1 - How may I use Exalead as my homepage?

The easiest way is to use the "Make Exalead my homepage" link at the bottom of the Exalead homepage.

Or do the following in your browser :

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, follow the procedure below to make Exalead.com your default homepage:

  • Chose "Tools" and "Internet Options".
  • Click on the "General" tab.
  • Under "Home page", enter "http://www.exalead.com" in the address field.
  • Click "OK".

If you use Firefox or Mozilla, follow the procedure below to make Exalead.com your default homepage:

  • Chose "Tools" and "Options".
  • Click on the "General" tab.
  • Under "Home Page", enter "http://www.exalead.com" in the address field.
  • Click on "OK".

2 - Is there a simple way to use Exalead with Safari?

There is no simple way to use Exalead search with Safari. We recommend that you use Firefox.

3 - How may I see results of my previous searches while using Exalead?

Your previous searches are recorded by your browser, and not by Exalead. A large number of browsers allow access to your search history by pressing Ctrl+H. Also, you may record the your search history in your web browser.

To record your search history in Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Open the "Tools" menu.
  • Select "Internet Options".
  • Click on the "General" tab.
  • In the "History" area, select a value greater than 0 (zero) for the "Number of days pages will be saved" option.
  • Select the "Content" tab.
  • In the "Personal Information" area, click on "semi automatic entry".
  • Activate the "Web Addresses" check box.
  • Click on "OK".

4 - How can I remove the contents of the drop-down list of previous searches?

The search history that appears in a drop-down box when you type in the Exalead search field is stored by your browser, not by Exalead. You will find below the instructions to erase your search history from the most current browsers.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

  • Open the "Tools" menu.
  • Select "Internet Options", then the "General" tab.
  • Click on the button "Erase History". To completely deactivate the history of your browser, attribute the value 0 (zero) for the option "how many days to save pages".
  • Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Choose the "Tools" menu.
  • Choose, "Options" >"Privacy" >"History".
  • Click "Erase". To completely disable the history of your browser, set a value of 0 (zero) for the option "remember visited pages for the last X days".
  • Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Safari

  • Click on "History" in the top menu.
  • Click "Erase History" at the bottom of the menu.

You can erase your search history by performing the following operation in your Exalead tool bar:

  • Click on the Exalead logo button on the far right end of the toolbar.
  • Select the "Erase History" option. All previously effected searches will be erased from the drop-down list.

5 - How do I enable cookies in my browser?

To enable cookies, please follow the following instructions relative to your browser.

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher:

  • Click in the "Tools" menu.
  • Select "Internet Options".
  • Click on the "Privacy" tab.
  • Click on the "Default" button (or place the sliding bar at "Medium").
  • Click "OK."

Mozilla Firefox version 1.0 and earlier:

  • Click on the "Tools" menu.
  • Choose "Options".
  • Select "Privacy" in the left tab.
  • Click the check box for "Allow sites to place cookies".
  • Click "OK".
